Packhorse Court Independents celebrate Independence Day!

In July there is a national campaign to focus on promoting the value of shopping in Independent shops.

The Independents traders got together and decided to celebrate US Independence Day in order to promote the benefits of shopping at your local Independent.   For every £ that you spend in an Independent shop 50p to 70p ends up back in the local economy compared to just 5p at the large multiple retailers.

The traders wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone who supports them.

The town crier came down and read out the Packhorse Court ‘declaraton of indpendence’

Come forth all ye who wish to hear, the independent traders of Packhorse Court make this honourable declaration to the town of Keswick and to our customers and neighbours.
We shall provide a clean, safe courtyard environment
The courtyard may be used for shopping, browsing or simply relaxing
We shall supply quality goods at affordable prices
We shall engage with our customers at every opportunity and learn from their ever changing needs
We will provide a high level of customer service
We will show our appreciation to our customers by providing occasional entertainment in the courtyard
Our customers can  trust us to be consistent in our offer and approach
We will reward loyalty from our customers
We will remain local independent traders, of the people, for the people, by the people of Keswick’

This weekend Packhorse Court took part in the Keswick Midsummer Festival.

On Saturday we had St Herberts School Choir singing as well as the Touchwood Wordsearch competition (won by Eve Jenkinson)  and the Sweet Treats Sour Face competition which was won by Issac who, as you can see from the photograph pulled a great face!!

We would like to wish each and every visitor, be they Keswick resident or festive visitor, a wonderful Christmas time.

We couldn’t think of anywhere better to spend Christmas than in the Lakes… despite the weather!

Say “hello” and let us know how you’re spending Christmas over on our Facebook page.

Pop-up Gallery from MOS Bespoke Furniture opens tomorrow!

The MOS Bespoke Furniture Pop-up Gallery starts this Saturday! They will be on Standish Street, opposite Salsa Mexican Bistro, Keswick and next to Jingles Hair Studio.

Loads of gorgeous and interesting things will be on display made by a whole host of Cumbria artisans… from Furniture and Ceramics to Jewellery and Photography.

It is as much a surprise for us what they’ll be bringing and we are so excited and curious… Saturday can’t come soon enough. We hear they are putting on the finishing touches today…

We hope to see you there!

Alexandra’s of Keswick are now open for business!

At 10am today Alexandra’s of Keswick opened their doors in Packhorse Court. We think you’ll love their beautiful womenswear – loads of snuggly knits and pretty dresses just in time for Christmas. Also, if you haven’t heard of Cyberjammies, be sure to pop in and check them out. Really gorgeous PJ’s that just make you want to stay in bed!

Please make sure to give them a warm welcome to Packhorse Court!

Fizzy Friday opening party

This Friday, 22nd November, the shop will be open until 7pm for a launch party called ‘Fizzy Friday’. Head down between 5pm and 7pm to celebrate with the team at Alexandra’s.

Keswick’s Christmas Lights Switch-On and Lumiere

The magic of Christmas comes early to Keswick this year, kicking off with festivities, lights and music as we switch on our Christmas Lights on Friday 8th November.

The lights bring some joy during the dark, cold winter months and lead the way to the highlight of our year… Christmas! Every year the switch on event is just right for getting you in the mood and reminding you not to despair, Christmas is just around the corner.

Join us in Packhorse Court at 5.30pm when we turn on the lights, and later at 7.00pm to switch on the lights at Market Square. From 1pm there is loads happening around Keswick including a Christmas Food and Gift Fayre, Christmas choirs, live broadcasting by Lakeland Radio, and more.

We’re hoping for a great turn out this year with the Fayre opening from 1pm in Market Square and an extra special Santa’s Workshop plus a visit from Santa in Packhorse Court 4.30pm – 5.15pm.

With FREE car parking in all Allerdale Borough Council car parks plus live coverage riding Lakeland Radio’s radio waves we’re looking forward to a brilliant, bustling and exciting atmosphere.
